US to Maintain Iran Blockade Despite Strait of Hormuz Staying Open, Tehran Says

Iran’s foreign minister says the Strait of Hormuz remains “completely open” to commercial shipping for the duration of the ceasefire.

However, US President Donald Trump signaled a tougher stance, saying in a post on Truth Social that the American naval blockade of Iranian ports will remain in place until a broader peace agreement is reached.

The developments come as a separate 10-day ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon takes hold. Celebrations, including fireworks, were reported in Beirut as the truce began.

The six-week conflict has had a heavy toll in Lebanon, where more than 2,000 people have been killed and around 20% of the population displaced. Israel, meanwhile, reports that two civilians and 13 soldiers have died.
